Scottish Dancers

The Prince Edward County Scottish Country Dancers group has been using the Town Hall for over 30 years. The classes are held every Friday night and once a month we have a social which brings dancers from Belleville, Kingston and as far away as Brockville. Quite often people will stay overnight and will spend the weekend in the County. We also run an annual three day event in the Spring which draws up to 100 dancers from Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa, also teachers from Scotland and further afield, this has helped considerably in promoting Prince Edward County.

With the threat of the Town Hall being sold, I have taken the time to look for another location and have found nothing that is suitable, either because it is too expensive or the floors are concrete. The Town Hall is the perfect venue, it has an elevator for moving musical equipment and has excellent kitchen and washroom facilities.

Over many years the Town Hall has been a meeting place, a place to socialize and in the case of the dance group spend a few hours exercising. I think it is very important to realize that this has been an affordable accommodation for hundreds or probably thousands of County residents.

If we do not have access to this facility our dance group will not continue.

I would ask you to please find an alternative to selling this property, it is one of a kind and we will not see anything like it again in this County.
